Sociology is the lens that helps you see the world clearly.
A place to inspire you to: question assumptions; explore how society shapes lives; understand diversity and inequality; think critically; develop empathy; make connections; and, above all, understand yourself and the world around you.
Sociology is the study of society, helping us understand how people live, interact and are shaped by the world around them. A high-quality sociology education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to investigate, analyse and evaluate social issues and patterns. As students progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a deeper understanding of social structures, relationships and inequalities. They should also appreciate how society both reflects and influences culture, behaviour and human experience.
We will endeavour to engage and excite you to develop a lifelong curiosity about the social world. We will equip you with rich, progressive knowledge, mastery skills, and a deep understanding of the structures, processes and perspectives that shape society. You will explore real-world issues, collect and interpret data, and apply sociological theories to explain patterns and behaviours. You will analyse and evaluate evidence and critically reflect on your own ideas and the perspectives of others.
