Geography: Inspiring a lifelong fascination with the world around us.

Geography is the lens through which we understand our planet and our place within it.  It is a place to inspire you to: explore diverse places and cultures; ask big questions about people, environments, and change; think critically and make connections; develop curiosity and global awareness; build resilience and responsibility; become informed, active citizens; and above all, understand the world, its interconnectivity — and help shape its future.

A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. It should equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. As students’ progress, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.’ Adapted from National Curriculum, DfE, 2014.

We will endeavour to engage and excite you into developing a lifelong curiosity about the world around you, equipping you with rich, progressive geographical knowledge, mastery skills, and a deep understanding of physical and human geography. You will explore places, environments, and global issues at a range of scales using maps, data, fieldwork, and geographical enquiry. In addition, you will investigate geographical patterns, processes, and change over time, developing informed ideas and deepening these carefully using evidence to reach well-reasoned conclusions.
